About Me
CO-TOOLING di Lorenzo Guiati was established as a sole proprietorship in March 2020. Since 2021, I have been registered with the Board of Industrial Experts of Modena, Mechanical specialisation, and since 2025 I operate as a freelance professional.
My activity is focused on mechanical design of equipment for the industrialisation of components and small to medium-sized industrial plants, developed in direct collaboration with mechanical and metalworking companies and technical consulting firms.
Key Strengths
Ability to design and develop simplified, functional and manufacturable solutions; strong know-how in product and process development, including sheet metal forming, blanking, bending, gripping tools for machining operations, manual and robotic welding fixtures, assembly tools, jigs and inspection gauges.
Vision
Whether it involves a new product, a process or the optimisation of an existing one, results are achieved through cooperation and initiative between client and supplier, working towards the same objective.
Reason for being
The path that turns an idea into value
Identifying the real needs and objectives

SOFTWARE IN USE

The primary software used is SOLIDWORKS, a parametric CAD (Computer-Aided Design) system for 3D and 2D design. Each operation is defined through numerical parameters and mathematical formulas; every part of the design is linked by dimensional and geometric constraints. SOLIDWORKS is used to design and manage complex parts and assemblies, model surfaces, and create technical documentation. The software supports the import and export of multiple file formats, such as STP and IGS for 3D data exchange, as well as DWG and DXF (AutoCAD files), commonly used for laser cutting preparation and other applications based on 2D drawings.
Other SOFTWARE used in previous experiences
Good knowledge of AUTOCAD, basic knowledge of SOLIDEDGE, INVENTOR and CREO.
CONFIDENTIALITY
All documentation, whether in paper, digital or verbal form, is subject to strict confidentiality obligations, which CO-TOOLING by Lorenzo Guiati and its partners fully respect and uphold.
3D SCANNING
Technology that Co-Tooling di Lorenzo Guiati uses and makes available to the Client for design and/or reverse engineering
- High precision: even the smallest details of an object, including edges, curves and imperfections.
- Efficiency: significantly faster and more effective than manual data acquisition methods.
- Faithful reproduction: highly accurate 3D models enabling precise replication of the original object.
Reverse engineering software consists of specialised tools that allow the analysis and identification of the properties of a physical object. These tools perform measurements of the entire surface geometry of an object, either manually or using various 3D measurement technologies. The software enables analysis of the original design in order to replicate or modify the component, leading to full 3D digitisation.
The integration of reverse engineering software with 3D scanning has opened new horizons in the field of reverse engineering. This synergy enables detailed analysis, design optimisation and rapid development.
Using a 3D scanner to capture data from a physical object provides an extremely accurate digital representation. These datasets can be imported directly into reverse engineering software, enabling detailed inspection and evaluation.
Once 3D scan data has been imported, virtual modifications can be applied to the 3D model. This allows design improvements to be explored without physically altering the object and enables rapid prototyping, significantly accelerating product development.
This combination of technologies is used across multiple sectors, including mechanical engineering, industrial design and the automotive industry, where it supports efficiency, safety and innovation.
The integration of reverse engineering software with 3D scanning provides a powerful method for understanding and improving physical objects. As technologies continue to evolve, the future of reverse engineering appears increasingly promising, opening new opportunities for innovation and product development.
